Rubbings of Glacial Scratches – near Dahlbren

Glacial Footprints

Dahlbreen Glacier (depicted in an adjacent oil painting) is one of the most active glaciers in Svalbard, Norway where Greg recently sailed, landed and explored. The rocky island where Greg stood painting was covered by the glacier as recently as 2009!  The weight of the receding glacier (and pebbles below tons of ice) incised scratches in the granite island. Greg layered a plastic sheet and paper to make these wax crayon rubbings that capture the scratches.
